My background and training
My journey into the study of the skin started when I was training in clinical aromatherapy at The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy in 2011. I have worked extensively with various plant and essential oils with a focus on strengthening the skin's barrier function, protecting and enhancing general skin health.
This led me to embark on a training programme in advanced skin studies and skin assessment where I could really get to understand and learn about the physiology of skin in health and disease. This has given me the CIBTAC level 4 qualification as an aesthetic practitioner.
It goes without saying that I have a huge passion in skin and body care and I thoroughly enjoy working with my clients, providing bespoke facials and skincare advice or through aromatherapy massages for relaxation and wellbeing.
I use the Dermaviduals skincare products in my facial treatments. (Click here to read about these products). My skincare approach comes from the principles of Corneotherapy, which is a method that focuses on skin barrier health. I may also utilise my own aromatherapy blends depending on what the skin needs. This is often in the case of the more sensitive and reactive skins where I will be using plant (fixed) oils with either a very low dilution or exclusion of essential oils. There are indeed specific essential oils that when used with the correct dilutions will protect the skin without irritating it.
My aromatherapy treatments are often based around massage where I will make a customised oil blend to suit the individual needs of my client. My massage methods are based around therapeutic massage and the treatment is always bespoke.
I look forward to welcoming you in my treatment room.
